TuxCASE for Arduino
Tux-lab_tuxcase_for_arduino_150x100

TuxCASE for Arduino was developed with IO Rodeo, an amazing company that uses open source software to develop and manufacture open source "Smart Lab Technology" hardware. This enclosure is designed to protect the various versions of Arduino Uno as well as the older Arduino Duemilanove boards.

The enclosure body is machined from domestic 6061-T6511 extruded aluminum bar stock. After two cnc machining operation with 9 tools, 77% of the original aluminum stock are removed. The clear cover is laser cut from .118" thick extruded acrylic. Eight 18-8 stainless 4-40 round philip machine screws are included for securing the Arduino board to the enclosure and for securing the clear top cover. Four additional mounting hole are drilled and chamfered at 100 degrees into the base of the enclosure.

The dimensional drawings from Adafruit was used as a design reference. The 3d IGES CAD model from Autodesk Inventor was imported into VisualMill CAM software to generate the pocketing and profiling tool path, while the 2d LibreCAD drawing was used to complete the g-code program using Haas machining canned cycles for drilling, tapping, chamfering, and serial number engraving.
